Concert Poster Tour Blanks – More Examples Here are two perfect examples of concert poster tour blanks being put to good use. The three Fats Domino posters are from the Pacific Northwest – Oregon, Vancouver B.C. and Washington – and cover a six-day period in 1959. The three gorgeous Otis Redding/soul revue posters date to 1967 and also feature one from Canada – the Expo Theatre in Montreal – followed by versions from North Carolina and Tennessee. Notice that Carla Thomas joined the tour between July and August. Interesting how the designer managed to squeeze in her name, right below Otis Redding’s, with no perceptible loss to the artists’ names below her… quite a visual trick to pull off, but they did it. As for the top “tour blank” portion of all six posters, it’s easy to determine that they were all printed at one national location – not in small-town print shops along the way. So all the colored portion was printed first, ahead of time; then the national promoter determined how many each city would get, ran them through a B&W press to fill in the venue info, and then shipped those specific posters off to each appropriate city.
